Game Science, the studio behind Black Myth: Wukong, recently announced that the game has already surpassed 10 million copies sold since its launch. What's remarkable is that it achieved this milestone in just three days.

For context, Hogwarts Legacy sold 15 million copies in three months, while Elden Ring and Cyberpunk 2077 reached 13 million copies in a month. The only game that rivals Black Myth: Wukong's rapid success is the open-world game Palworld, which attracted 19 million players within two weeks of its release.

Released on August 20 for PC and PlayStation 5, Black Myth: Wukong is an action RPG steeped in Chinese mythology. Based on the classic novel Journey to the West, the game follows the story of the "Monkey King." Players take on the role of the "Destined One," embarking on a quest to uncover relics tied to Wukong’s power, set against the backdrop of iconic cultural and natural landmarks from the real world.

In addition to being one of the fastest-selling video games in history, Black Myth: Wukong has also earned the distinction of becoming the second-most played game on Steam by concurrent players. It currently holds the top spot as the most-wishlisted game on the platform. The game has garnered “Overwhelmingly Positive” reviews from Steam users, a rare achievement on a platform with millions of active players.
