Meta AI on WhatsApp for Android May Soon Feature Voice Input: Report
According to a report by WABetaInfo, Meta is reportedly enhancing its AI chatbot for WhatsApp to include voice input capabilities which will enable WhatsApp for Android users to interact with MetaAI using voice commands.
Meta is rolling out a new feature to select users in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android, allowing them to share voice messages with Meta AI. To support this, WhatsApp has added a voice message button next to the text field in the chat interface for Meta AI, resembling the one used for sending voice messages to other users. Currently, interaction with the AI-powered chatbot is limited to typing prompts and holding text-based conversations.
Meta AI's speech recognition technology powers the new feature, enabling it to understand voice message content and process user queries. To ensure privacy, the processing is expected to occur on-device. If the original voice message has poor audio quality or excessive background noise, Meta AI will prompt the user to re-record it.
This voice message sharing feature for Meta AI is currently available to select beta testers using the latest version of WhatsApp for Android from the Google Play Store. While Meta has not officially announced a wider release, the feature is anticipated to roll out to more Android users in the coming weeks. There is currently no information regarding its availability on the iOS version of WhatsApp.
