Ola to Integrate Krutrim AI in E-Scooters, Plans AI Chip Production
Ola founder Bhavish Aggarwal announced that the company's AI virtual assistant, Krutrim, will be integrated into Ola Electric scooters as part of the upcoming MoveOS5 operating system, which is set to launch in beta by the end of October, coinciding with Diwali.
The announcement was made during Sankalp 2024, Ola’s annual community event held on August 15 at the Ola Campus in Bengaluru. The event featured several new product launches and updates, including those related to electric vehicles, AI, and cloud services.
Aggarwal also introduced the Krutrim AI Customer Care app, designed to help developers automate customer service. The app supports 22 Indian languages and can be implemented by enterprises within a day. Ola Electric and Ola Cabs are already using this AI-powered customer service, meaning that if you contact Ola's customer care, you might be assisted by an AI agent, according to Aggarwal.

Krutrim, Ola's AI division, is rolling out another developer app called Bhashik, a multimodal language hub capable of translating videos into multiple languages. “This event is currently being live-streamed in multiple languages using Bhashik,” announced Ola founder Bhavish Aggarwal. The app is already being used by edtech startup Unacademy for its language learning platform.
During a scripted demo, Ola Krutrim previewed a new image-recognition feature expected to be added to its AI model later this year. Krutrim, India’s first AI unicorn, achieved a $1 billion valuation after raising $50 million in early 2024. Ola is also venturing into AI chip manufacturing, designing a silicon chip called Bodhi 1 for advanced Large Language Models (LLMs) and vision models, with production expected to begin by 2026. A second chip, Bodhi 2, supporting models with 10T+ parameters, is slated for release by 2028.
Aggarwal also highlighted updates to Ola Maps, with an expanded API now covering over 95% of use cases in routing, places, maps, and SDKs for developers. Additionally, Ola teased a new AI-driven e-commerce tool, Shopping Co-pilot, designed to offer a personalized and interactive shopping experience. Ola Consumer is planning to introduce more categories on the government-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), where it already offers food and grocery delivery services.
Ola has also launched its UPI app, Ola Pay, allowing users to pay for rides, food, and groceries. The company's new customer loyalty program, Ola Coin, which rewards users for every transaction on Ola’s ride-hailing and e-commerce platforms, is currently live in Bengaluru and will be rolled out to other cities soon.
